In Loving Memory
It’s a moment
One gleaming moment
The sun sparks the eyes
As wings appear soaring through southern skies
And there’s a smile,
a hopeful smile
One I have not felt for awhile
She flies with grace and beauty,
an oblivious, quiet trance
A playful sort of flutter,
a catch without the chance
She laughs at my attempts,
to capture her aware-
of every creeping movement,
Sun reflecting off my hair
And in the silent grace,
the beauty of the smile
The essence of the moment,
the tears not worth the while
I stand so struck in awe,
As in the brightened ray
The only thing I noticed,
so swiftly flies away
For in the steadfast moment
Of struggling indecency
A thought provoked of your presence
In loving memory

Look, I’m just being honest. That excuses me from empathy or tact, right?
